Voluntary Services yes, but European
CESVOT, Centro Servizi Volontariato Toscana (Voluntary Service Centre for Tuscany), will be present at the Festival d’Europa taking place from the 6th to the 10th of May in Florence, to promote the European Voluntary Service.
The European Voluntary Service is an opportunity of informal personal development for young people aged 18-30, by volunteering for a non-profit organisation in another country in Europe. EVS projects may refer to different sectors, from culture to sport, social care, environment and art, and give the opportunity to live this experience in a voluntary service organization for a period ranging from 2 to 12 months.
It is necessary to contact an organization registered as Sending Organization, such as CESVOT. For this reason, on the occasion of the Festival d’Europa CESVOT will devote one to illustrate the characteristics, opportunities and modalities of participation to interested young people.
Amato and the european impasse: Appointment at the Festival d'Europa
“The European Union: how to break the deadlock”. This is the title of Giuliano Amato’s lecture which will be held on the 6th of May at the Faculty of Political Science “Cesare Alfieri” in Florence. The appointment is one of the events organized by the University of Florence within the Festival d’Europa. Together with the former Italian Prime Minister, the Faculty students will be the ambassadors of the knowledge of Europe among citizens, through open lectures and speeches in secondary schools of the province of Florence.
Florence, an European laboratory among european citizens
Bringing Europe to the streets, among the people, among its citizens. This is one of the main objectives of the Festival according to Marco Del Panta, Secretary General of the European University Institute, who explains that “outside the usual institutional seats, the Festival d’Europa of Florence will gather together the main movers of the European integration process and will be a unique opportunity to have sitting at the same table in the Tuscany’s capital city President of the European Commission Barroso, President of the European Parliament Buzek, Vice President of the Commission Tajani, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Ashton, Commissioner Vassiliou and Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs Frattini”. Moreover, as Del Panta says “this way, the city will be converted into a laboratory to reflect upon the future of Europe, enhancing Florence vocation as the city hosting the only European academic institution, the European University Institute, established by the Member States of European Communities”.
