János Martonyi

János Martonyi è Ministro degli Affari Esteri ungherese.
Dopo una carriera accademica di respiro europeo, Martonyi è stato commissario del governo per le privatizzazioni dal 1989 al 1990. Nel 1990-91 ricopre la funzione di Segretario di Stato al Ministero delle Relazioni Economiche Internazionali e dal 1991 al 1994 e’ stato Segretario di Stato al Ministero per gli Affari Esteri. Dal 1998 al 2002 e’ stato Ministro degli Esteri per il governo di centro-destra. Ha fatto parte della Commissione Amato, partecipando alla stesura del nuovo trattato in seguito al respingimento della Costituzione Europea. Recentemente ha assunto il compito di favorire l’adesione della Serbia all’Unione Europea.
 

Janos Martonyi is the Foreign Minister of Hungary.
After an academic career in Europea, he became, in 1989,  government commissioner in charge of privatization. In 1990-91, he served as State Secretary in the Ministry of International Economic Relations and from 1991 to 1994, as State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1998 to 2002, Martonyi was Foreign Minister in the centre-right government of Hungary.
He was part of the Amato Group that unofficially drafted a new treaty for the European Union after the European Constitution was rejected. Recently he has made a commitment to help Serbia to join the European Union.
