Premio Galileo. Joseph Borrell’s Speech, President of the European University Institute
23-03-2011Premio Galileo. Joseph Borrell’s Speech, President of the European University Institute
“The Festival d’Europa represents an initiative that will turn Florence into one of the European capitals for five days, thanks to an extraordinary variety of events.
The Premio Galileo is among the most relevant events scheduled, and this year, on the occasion of the first edition of the Festival d’Europa, is dedicated to the European values. As a matter of fact, the prestigious award will be given to those who have participated or are participating, with their efforts, in the daily making of the united Europe and in the development of European values, without disregarding the values of Peace and Culture that have always been behind the objectives of the Premio Galileo.
On behalf of the Institute, I would like to thank Alfonso De Virgiliis and the whole Scientific Committee of the award for allowing an initiative that enhances the rich programme of the Festival and that has been possible thanks to the deep sharing of values and purposes between the Institute and the Committee”. (J. Borrell)
