FABBRICA EUROPA, in cooperation with Festival Suona Francese, presents LesTrois baudets byMaud Lubeck, Nicolas Jules and Maurizio Geri, included within the events of the Festival d’Europa. The title of the evening event reminds of an historical place of the Parisian song and cabaret. In the past, Les trois baudets, a little theatre situated near to the Moulin Rouge, was a point of reference and a springboard for musicians of the calibre of Jacques Brel. It is exactly in the wake of such atmospheres that Suona Francese features three artists who keep a mark strongly linked to the transalpine tradition, though perfectly adapted to the present day. First of all, this is evident in the theatrical style of the singer-songwriter and guitarist Nicolas Jules who, besides focusing its success on irony, proposes also pieces that are able to balance well the importance of texts and the accuracy of the compositions, which are arranged with essentiality and taste, among electrified riffs, sketches and puns. The poetics of the singer-songwriter and pianist Maud Lübeck is more delicate and romantic. Nonetheless, her words are complex and, behind the charming and sweet melody, they often hide deep and caustic meanings inserted in highly refined musical structures. Finally, under the star of Django Reinhardt, there is the Pistoia musician Maurizio Geri. Already beside Caterina Bueno and Riccardo Tesi, Geri has always looked not only at the popular Tuscan music, but also to the Manouche rhythms which, thanks to Reinhardt, have permeated the French swing.
