The European Parliament, the European Commission and the Department for Community Policies in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs participate in the Festival d'Europa 2011 planned and promoted by the European University Institute Florence
11 February 2011 – The European Parliament Information Office in Italy, the European Commission Representation in Italy, the Department for Community Policies and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are organizing partners of the Festival d'Europa that will celebrate the European integration spirit from the 6th to the 10th of May in Florence. These institutions actively participate in the ideation of the Festival programme, through the well-established formula of management partnership, aimed at carrying out in Italy an integrated strategy of communicating Europe to citizens. The three partners will have at their disposal a large exhibition area entirely dedicated to citizens of any age, who want to have information about and attend events aimed at deepening programmes, rights and opportunities of the European Union. Within this area, there will be information desks managed by the main Italian EU information networks. A special section will be dedicated to education. Students aged from 8 to 18 years will have at their disposal Spazio Europa, a multimedia project contributing to the information, training and participation of young citizens in the dialogue on Europe, with an original educational-creative training path. On the other hand, the event for the presentation of the project “Europa = Noi” will be aimed at primary and secondary school teachers". A series of events involving European deputies, members of the European Commission and the Italian Government, citizens, the civil society and sectors of the Italian economic reality will have as their reference issue the European Year of Volunteering. The seven key initiatives of the European Union strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth ("Europe 2020") will be at the centre of a series of presentations to the public and workshops with experts and institutional representatives. Context The management partnership was established in Italy in 2008 to implement the European Union information and communication strategy through annual information plans jointly adopted by the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Department for Community Policies of the Prime Minister's Office, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
