Empowerment and Europe
Empowerment and Europe. This is the title of the film clip produced by the Istituto Lorenzo dei Medici which will be shown on Monday 9th May 2011 at 7 pm at the picturesque Chiesa di San Jacopo in Campo Corbolini in Florence (Via Faenza 43) within the Festival d’Europa. The protagonists will be a group of young people speaking different languages and with different histories and cultures, who, in spite of their differences, will be able to group together and integrate themselves to face adversities, feeling part of a single nation and finding a strong sense of belonging.
The Istituto Francese di Firenze protagonist of the Festival d’Europa with Pigalle
A big concert with three artists from different countries having in common the habitual attendance of the famous Parisian theatre of Pigalle ”Les Trois Baudetes”. The event, on the occasion of the Festival D’Europa, will be held in Florence on Saturday 7th of May at the French Institute.Among the protagonists, Mrs Maud Lubek, author, composer, arranger and singer known for her dream-like and poetic pop songs and Nicolas Jules, entertainer for the most important world festivals with a mix of his sensual voice and provocative humour. Both these French artists will be accompanied by Maurizio Geri, an Italian composer, guitar player and singer, specialized in folk music and Italian Gipsy Jazz.
Sonata to Franz Liszt at the Festival d'Europa
Pianist Riccardo Sandiford will be the protagonist of a concert held at the Lyceum Club Internazionale of Florence on Monday 9th May at 5 pm (via Alfani 48).
The concert title is “Homage to Franz Liszt” and will be held on the occasion of the bicentenary of his birth (1811-1886). The event is included in the first edition of the Festival d’Europa. The repertoire includes some of the most representative piano works of the composer. Riccardo Sandiford, born in Florence in 1967, graduated with high honours in 1987 from the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini to start then a brilliant career that quickly brought him to perform all over the world.
Frèdèric Martel for Feltrinelli International
“Mainstream. A survey on the culture everybody likes” is the title of the meeting taking place at the bookstore Libreria Feltrinelli International in Florence on Monday 9th of May at 6 pm within the Festival d’Europa. The protagonist will be the French researcher and journalist Frèdèric Martel, who will talk about European culture in the age of globalization. How is it possible to build a best seller? Why do popcorn and coca cola have such a central role in the film industry? These are just some questions to which Martel will try to answer with his work-survey.
