The management Partnership Together to communicate the European Union in Italy

Communicating more effectively the European Union, its initiatives and activities, promoting the knowledge of the rights and values of the European citizenship: these are some of the objectives set by the management Partnership.

The management Partnership was founded in Italy in 2008 to implement the information and communication strategy of the European Union through yearly information plans simultaneously adopted by the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Department for Community Policies of the Prime Minister’s Office, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is a cooperation model facilitating the co-financing of information and communication activities concerning the great European themes addressed to the general public.

Over its first three years (2008 – 2010), the management Partnership has realized campaigns and initiatives aimed at promoting the European elections, favouring the meeting between the Italian members of the European Parliament and the citizens, launching initiatives and projects addressed to young people. Seven active portals, 450 participative events, 80 million global contacts: these are only a few outcomes of the three years spent together to communicate the European Union in Italy.

In 2011, the management Partnership will focus on four main themes: news and advantages resulting from the Treaty of Lisbon; the economic-financial crisis and the strategy for a smart, sustainable and inclusive development; the opportunities the EU offers to citizens, especially to young people; the European Year of Volunteering.

Among the main initiatives carried out thanks to the management Partnership, there are:

• 2008 and 2009 - "EUxte" project and Eurodesk project, with the objective of providing young people with information about the elections of the Parliament, the opportunities that the EU offers to young people, and the active citizenship;
• 2008 and 2009: lessons on Europe given at the Universities by experts and politicians;
• 2009 – communication campaign for the European elections;
• 2010 - "Europa in città", meetings with the members of the European Parliament in the main Italian cities (this initiative will be proposed again in 2011);
• 2010 – the e-learning platform "Smartstudent";
• 2010 - Erasmus Welcome Days;
• 2010 – a campaign on the priorities of communication, among which the relaunch of economy, the opportunities for young people and the strengthening of the role of Europe in the world.Press contacts:
